Dame Elizabeth Violet Blackadder is one of Scotland’s most renowned artists, creating captivating floral watercolours, prints and oil paintings as well as instantly recognisable still life works.
Another Scottish woman artist in the Leyden Gallery collection is Dame Elizabeth Blackadder, born in Falkirk, Scotland in 1931, Blackadder is perhaps most well-known for her lyrical watercolour paintings and printmaking of botanical flowers and cats. She was also notably the first woman to be elected a member of both the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Academy.
Leyden Gallery is pleased to announce its newest acquisition, Celebration Collage 130 by Wilhelmina Barns-Graham. This piece enters into a substantial collection of Barns-Graham’s paintings and prints that began forming in 2013.
