On immediately leaving Edinburgh College of Art, Lindsay moved to London and worked as a performance artist, filmmaker and painter. As a performance artist Lindsay was part of The Theatre of Mistakes who performed at the Hayward Gallery, London and other art centres worldwide. As a filmmaker his work was shown at the ICA, London.
In the eighties/nineties as a comedian/actor/musician Lindsay performed all-over Britain, appeared on many radio and tv programmes. Appeared in numerous films and was featured in over 70 commercials in UK and Europe. Worked with, amongst others, Ridley Scott, Ken Russell and Michael Winner. Appeared in numerous music videos, notably by the Beatles and John Lydon.
Lindsay’s artworks have been exhibited in London, Edinburgh, New York, Japan and South Korea. His paintings are in private collections in UK, Germany, France, Japan and St Lucia.
Since 2013, Lindsay has been Co-Director of Leyden Gallery, an art gallery situated in Spitalfields, London. The gallery has had exhibitions from such artists as Henry Moore, Paula Rego, Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, Vivienne Koorland, Alasdair Gray and many other international artists. The gallery’s own collection includes paintings by Scottish artists Anne Redpath, Joan Eardley, Liz Blackadder, Wilhelmina Barns-Graham and Robert Weir Allan.
